Frequently Asked Questions _ Lift Aesthetics Sydney

Q. What’s the difference between biostimulating injectables and dermal fillers?

In Australia there are different TGA approved products used for biostimulating injectables (collagen stimulators) and dermal fillers. Both utilise safe, prescription only medications, which are administered by a trusted Physician. Biostimulators are made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is a non-toxic, biodegradable, synthetic material, that stimulates a natural anatomical response, resulting in long lasting, overall, skin rejuvenation. Dermal fillers are comprised of hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in a consistency appropriate for achieving instant augmentation to your facial shape and features. Product selection, placement, and dosage varies depending on individual considerations and desired outcomes. A comprehensive consultation is required, which will include a medical assessment and the issuing of a script.

Q. How do biostimulators work?

Biostimulators, also known as collagen stimulators, are made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is a non-toxic, biodegradable, synthetic material that’s been safely used in medicine around the world for more than 40 years. When injected for cosmetic purposes, biostimulators reawaken your collagen, elastin, and skin forming proteins, triggering natural restorative processes for subtle, ongoing revitalisation.

Q. How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers utilise hyaluronic acid (HA), a sugar that’s naturally found in the body, and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), a mineral and major component of bone, to replace volume loss and remodel facial features by injecting it into the treatment area to achieve desired results.

Q. What are the results from biostimulating injections?

Biostimulating injectables are an effective way to improve any area of your skin that’s experiencing the common signs of ageing. They’re a sound choice for treating areas where your skin isn’t supported by fat or muscle, compromising its integrity more quickly than other areas, like your neck, decolletage, and hands. Over time you’ll notice your skin becoming stronger, gradually combating laxity, translucency, and overall integrity.

Q. What are the results from dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are able to smooth expression lines, fill deep set wrinkles, address scarring (including acne scarring), replace volume loss, augment facial shapes, and enhance facial features in a safe and controlled way. This type of injectable treatment is a popular choice for cheek and lip enhancement, jawline definition, and facial slimming. Advanced techniques utilise dermal fillers to achieve non-surgical blepharoplasty (eye rejuvenation), rhinoplasty (nose augmentation), and earlobe repair.

Q. How long does it take for biostimulating injectables to take effect?

Results from biostimulating injectables aren’t immediate, given the nature of the treatment being to ignite your body’s own natural fibroblast production, which occurs gradually over time. Your Physician will be able to talk you through the process as you go and indicate the results you should expect to see and when.

Q. How long does it take for dermal filler injections to take effect?

Dermal filler injections offer instant results. You’ll love the immediacy of this treatment, and ability to collaborate with your Physician to refine your desired outcomes during your procedure (keeping in mind that initial swelling will subside, so the ultimate effects will be slightly more subtle than what you see in the moment).

Q. How long will the results from my biostimulating injections last?

Biostimulating injections are usually administered in multiple sessions (between one and three treatments spaced four weeks apart), depending on your initial skin concerns, target areas, and desired outcomes. Results of biostimulating injections can last up to two years, and many patients maintain this with annual treatment sessions. Permanency of your results can be more specifically indicated during your consultation, along with which other skin modalities will best compliment, personalise, and optimise your outcomes.

Q. How long will the results from my dermal filler injections last?

Dermal fillers achieve desired outcomes within one treatment session in most cases. Results vary, depending on the area being treated and the product being used, with most patients experiencing longevity of between 6 and 18 months. Certain procedures, like lip fillers, won’t last as long as other areas, like chin fillers, because the product will metabolise more quickly. Permanency of your results can be more specifically indicated during your consultation, along with which other skin modalities will best compliment, personalise, and optimise your outcomes.

Q. How long does a biostimulator treatment take to have done?

Biostimulator treatments are minimally invasive and relatively quick, depending on the area you’re having treated. Commencing with cleansing, disinfecting, and numbing the area, the product is administered with a needle and gently massaged. Time is allowed for short breaks if needed, to help manage any discomfort you might feel. In most cases, your procedure will take less than an hour, and timing will be more specifically indicated during your consultation.
